Magnetic Jewelry as a Gift

Magnetic Jewelry can make a great gift. Do you have a golfer in the family? Wouldn't they love a magnetic link bracelet? Did you know that about 90% of professional golfers use magnetic therapy? Several are convinced that their game is better when they wear a magnetic bracelet.

How about anyone with arthritis? A copper magnetic bracelet might be just the ticket. Copper, it is believed, can also be beneficial for those with arthritis.

Do you know someone who spends a lot of time on the computer, either typing or clicking or playing games?
They proably get sore wrists at times. A magnetic bracelet can help reduce the swelling.

How about sports enthusiast? kick boxers? There are lots of people for whom a gift of magnetic jewelry will show that you really care for them!

Melatonin, HGH and Negative Magnetic Fields

The pineal gland is a reddish brown pea sized gland in the center of your brain. It is a magnetic part of your body - it contains magnetite. It controls your hormone levels, enzymes and immune system.

One of the most importand hormones it creates is melatonin - the hormone that gives you a good nights sleep. Not only that, but human growth hormone levels appear to increase in the presence of more melatonin.

The earth gives off a negative magnetic field. The sun gives us a positive magnetic field. Melatonin is almost all produced when there is a negative magnetic field and when it is dark.

A lot of modern houses may very well interfere with your getting enough of the negative magnetic field from the earth when you wish to sleep. There are probably electrical wires creating their own magnetic field all around you and that magnetic field may not be the right one for calmness and sleep.

There is no difference between the negative magnetic field given off by metal magnetic jewelry or magnetic mattresses and the negative field of the earth itself - so long as it is a low level negative magnetic field it'll have the same effect.

Here are some reputed benefits of HGH:
Decrease fat, increasie lean muscle
Improve the look and softness of your skin
Increase your bone density, and help to reverse osteoporosis
Improve your brain and memory
Improve your physical and mental well being

I think it is well worth taking a litttle effort to make your pineal gland happy with a negative magnetic field for about 8 hours a day so that it produces more melatonin and the melatonin in turn increases your HGH!

Using Magnets to help with Relaxation

When you wear magnetic jewelry, the soft tissue under the magnets lengthens. This helps relax any muscles or ligaments that are damaged or traumatised.

The stronger the magnet, the deeper it can penetrate and the more soft tissue it can affect, which is why in dragonstone magnetics jewelry only strong magnets are used.

It also is one of the reasons that it feels so good to sleep on a magnetic mattress. Then a lot of yyour soft tissue is helped to relax, giving you a better nights sleep so you wake up refreshed and ready for the next day.

What Magnetic Jewelry to Wear Where?

It's important for most of us to fit in with the place that we are in.

For work, plainer pieces of magnetic jewelry are often the best choice. Plain silver, plain copper or black or dark coloured hematite.

For golf a magnetic link bracelet fits in well with what the other people playing with you are wearing. Gold and silver magnetic link bracelets are probably best for golf.

A magnetic copper bangle is probably the best choice for martial arts. Preferably with an intersting pattern on it such as a celtic knot.

And for ladies going out in the evening hematite jewelry with lots of other coloured stones and beads could be a good choice.

Does Wearing Magnetic Jewelry Improve Blood Flow?

It probably does in two ways. First it enlarges the very small capilliaries, thus allowing more blood to flow through them.

Then the red blood corpuscles line up all in the same direction when under the influence of a therapeutic magnet, and this probably helps with a smoother flow of blood too.

When you have an injury, beter blood flow is almost certainly good news in helping it to heal faster.

Magnetic Hematite Beads on Memory Wire

These are great - they are so multi purpose.

A lot of people use them for anklets.

They make fine magnetic bracelets. The advantage to them is that they will fit any size of wrist. (You can even put one around your neck if you like! But they weren't designed for that!)

Quite a few people put them around the necks of their pets. Animals also do very well with magnetic products.

They can look very nice. You can choose plain black to go with most outfits and a colour that is fine to wear for work too.
Or you can choose to have the magnetic hematite beeds with an array of colourful semi-precios stones, glass beads or other brighly coloured beads.

And so easy to slip on and off!

Neodymium magnets

These are also called Neo magnets, Rare Earth Magnets, Neodymium Iron Boron magnets or NdFeB magnets.

They are very strong for their size so they are ideal for magnetic therapy. Stronger magnetic dots (or bandages) are also made from this material.

They last very well - they should last you a lifetime if you look after them.

Don't get them too hot - heat will demagnetize magnets made of this material. And don't drop them if you can help it. The shock could demagnetize and/or break them.

Their disadvantage is that they rust very easily - and who wants rust all over them. So for magnetic therapy they are coated. The better ones are coated in 24 carat gold and the cheaper ones are coated in paint or maybe copper - which can also stain one's skin but is likely good for you when it does so.

Whateverer they are coated with, it won't make any difference to how strong they are as magnets. The strength of the magnet is a function of the material it is made from and it's size.

2 Neo magnets the same size are the same strength.

The reason why some suppliers will say their magnets are 3750 gauss and other suppliers will say that their magnets are 2500 gauss is because the first supplier is talking about how strong the magnet is inside at it's centrepoint, and the second supplier is talking about how strong it is at it's surface. One could wish that there was a standard here!

Using a Magnetic Bangle to Ease a Swollen Wrist.

We all hurt our wrists at times.

Maybe we were typing a lot or playing computer games for a long time. Maybe we were water skiing all day. Maybe we fell and landed on top of our wrist.

It doesn't matter how it happened, the sooner we can stop the pain and get the swelling down the better.

A magnetic bangle can help. The magnets help allign the anti-oxidants so that they connect with the free radicals that are doing the damage, and neutralize them.

Without magnets, the anti-oxidants bump into the free radicals in a random manner and only 1 in 64 of those random connections alligns the right part of the anti-oxidant to the part of the free radical that it can connect to so that it can neutralize it.

There's a big advantage to wearing a magnetic therapy product when you have a swolen wrist.

Copper Magnetic Jewelry - What you should know about it.

Copper has long been a folk medicine aid for people with arthritis. My mother had bad arthritis in her hands and wore copper bangles. She was sure that they helped.

At that time it was thought that nothing that was on your skin got inside you. So of course the medical profession at the time scoffed at the idea of a copper bangle doing any good at all.

Now we know that the skin does indeed absorb many things that are on it into the body.

Copper is an essential mineral for people. We only need a very small amount of it, but we do need that small amount. Copper is part of the antioxidant enzyme, Superoxide Dismutase. Antioxidants are certainly going to help people with arthritis.

Copper is needed for Adenosine Triphosphate - which gives us our energy.

Collagen and some hormones need copper. Collagen is part of muscles and skin.

Most people get enough copper in their diet, but a few don't. If you somehow have a lot of zinc in your diet you may become deficient in copper. Zinc interfere's with copper's uptake.

So there may well be some truth in the folk medicine idea of wearing a copper bangle for arthritis - there often is truth in folk remedies. Most modern medicine has been developed from the effective parts of plants etc that were used for folk remedies.

But there is a downside to wearing copper jewelry for some people. If your skin is naturally acidic quite a lot of the copper will be transferred from the bangle to your skin. Sometimes enough to give your skin a green hue.
This isn't dangerous. It can easily be rinsed off. But it is something to think about before deciding to wear your copper magnetic bracelet with a white sleeved shirt. Maybe a gold or silver plated bracelet would be better fo those occasions.

Magnetic Products for Weight Loss? #3

Came across this in an ad for a magnetic belt:
  • Magnets placed in belt to help you lose fat

  • Once again, I feel dubious. That particular belt had 3 magnets in it and I don't think that they would necessarily align with any acupuncture points - the belt wrapped around the waist several times by the look of it.

But once again, I certainly know quite a few Chinese people who believe that wearing magnets around their waist keeps them slim. They are slim, but they are also active and don't seem to overeat that often.

Magnetic Jewelry for Weight Loss? #2

Here's a couple of extracts from online ads for magnetic earrings for weight loss.

"Scientists at the University of Toronto thoroughly tested the Acu Slim program. In their clinical study, over 97% of Acu Slim wearers showed significant weight loss over a 9-week period, regardless of initial weight. By comparison, a group wearing ordinary ""placebo"" earrings had no significant weight loss"

"Get the slim figure you've always wanted with the Acu Slim™ magnetic earrings weight loss program! The Acu Slim™ magnetic earrings' rare earth magnets gently exert pressure on your earlobes to suppress your desire to eat. It combines modern medical techniques with accupressure to help you lose weight quickly, safely and effectively. Just wear the magnetic studs (in stylish gold or pearl) while following the simple program of nutrition and moderate exercise and watch the pounds melt away. For centuries people have been relying on magnets and acupressure for pain relief. Now, it's been discovered that they may be useful for weight loss."

I've tried to find that study by the scientists at the University of Toronto. I was curious about how you could have 'placebo' magnetic earrings. Basically you can take two fairly strong magnets, put one each side of your ear lobe and they will stay in place. My 2500 gauss magnetic dots do that beautifully. I wanted to sell magnetic earrings, but the samples I've received so far don't always stay on very well. My magnetic dots do stay on well and they look good so I use those myself.

But placebo magnetic earrings? hmmmmmm! Show me and then I'll believe in them!

I see that the university test had exercise and diet components as well. Well, those would help one lose weight for sure.

I wish I could find out more about acupuncture. Is this wearing magnetic earrings for weight loss a con or is it for real?

    Magnetic Jewelry for Weight Loss?

This one has me stumped. But a lot of my customers of Chinese heritage do indeed believe this to be so.

They wear magnetic waist belts and they also put a magnet (with a bracelet or a magnetic dot) on the middle of the inside of each wrist about 3cms or 1 1/4 inches away from where the hand starts.

I didn't believe that it could work, but then I thought about how I felt about acupuncture many years ago, and acupuncture does work. The inside of the wrist is an acupunture point and magnets can be used to stimulate acupunture points.

Well, I got to thinking about it and decided to try it. Now I have a dot magnet taped to the inside of each wrist. If it doesn't work, well I've only lost a few bandaids. And if it does work, well I'll be very happy! Sitting at a computer for many hours a day is not good for the waistline!

That said, I suspect that I have to get away from the computer and walk, run, jog, swim, whatever to lose those extra few pounds!

Can Wearing Magnetic Jewelry Slow Down the Effects of Aging?

For some reason this is a side of using magnetic jewelry that hasn't appeared to have any proper studies done on it. Amazing, considering that the baby boomers are now all approaching 60.

Cleopatra is said to have worn a magnetic loadstone on her forehead to preseve her looks, so there is definately nothing new in the idea that magnets help to keep wrinkles etc at bay.

Studies with electomagnetic pulsers have found that they help the skin to produce more collagen and so help to preserve a youthful complection. So it is quite likely that magnetic jewelry will have the same effect on skin that the magnets are close too. That's the best we can do until someone decides to do some extensive study into the subject. I know I'm going to use magnets myself!

Magnetic Bracelets help ease Osteoarthritis Pain

Professor Edzard Ernst from the Peninsula Medical School in Plymouth reported on a study using magnetic bracelets for easing pain for osteoarthritis in theBritish Medical Journal in 2004.

200 people with osteoarthritis were giver either a standard strength magnetic bracelet, a weaker strength magnetic bracelet of a dummy magnetic bracelet for 12 weeks.

Professor Ernst said "We found evidence of a beneficial effect of magnetic wrist bracelets on the pain of osteoarthritis of the hip and knee"

Those who wore the standard strength magnetic bracelet reported having less pain than those who wore the weaker strength magnetic bracelets.

Double Blind Study by St Pauls College

“Double Blind Study” by St Paul’s College of Veterinary Medicine USA 1995.
    Quote:
"When a magnet is applied to the body muscles and soft tissue, they lengthen and relax, waves pass through the tissue and secondary currents are induced. When those currents clash with magnetic waves, they produce impacting heat on electrons in the body cells. These impacting heats are very effective in the reduction of muscle swelling and pain. Movement of haemoglobin in the blood vessels is accelerated; this has been observed in both the thermo graphic and nuclear medicine studies, while calcium, cholesterol and lactic acid deposits in the blood are decreased. The fatigued blood is cleansed and circulation is increased.

There is also significant of a pain blocking mechanism in nerve fibres themselves when subjected to magnetic fields. Researchers have been able to shift the resting potential (thereby raising the stimulus to pain) of nerve cells in the laboratory by 25% using the Norso Dynamag technology. ‘High strength magnets can cause anaesthesia, in the tissue, through a principal in physics called the Hall Effect. A thermal impact that occurs within the cell, which can affect nerve signals"

In other simpler words the magnets help with relaxation and reduces pain and inflammation.

    Quote:
"Two vital things happen when a magnet is placed on the skin:

    1. The soft tissue will lengthen and help to relax down a muscle or ligament that is damaged or traumatised. It will work in an area and depth directly proportional to the type and strength of the magnet. Large and powerful are ideal.
    2. The tissue relaxes: oxygen and blood flow that has so far been restricted access to the damaged site, is allowed in and is increased. We can see this in thermal imaging.

Normally an injured site, whether from arthritis, torn muscles or any other condition, will be surrounded by inflammation. This can comprise of lactic acids, calcium and other deposits. Basically the site is ‘hot’ with acidity. The increase in oxygen and blood flow brings with it increased alkaline. Acidity hates to be in the alkaline environment and this is where the body starts to generate its own healing abilities. Magnets merely encourage this in a truly dramatic way.

To summarise, once the tissues are relaxed and the blood flow increased, detoxification has started. Next, the thermal impact mentioned above occurs inside the cells."

    Hematite Jewelry

Hematite is a naturally occuring magnetic stone that can be used to make magnetic jewelry. It's natural colour is black.

When it is being shaped into beads and polished it loses it's magnetism, so once the beads are finished they are re-magnetized.

What is different about the magnetism from a hematite necklace or bracelet?
The beads turn around, so you will be getting a north pole magnetic field from some of them and a south pole magnetic field from others. And as you move around during the day the beads will move around too so the magnetic polarity will be constantly changing, but most likely you will always get a mix of north and south pole magnetic fields.

North pole magnetic fields are good at healing.
South pole magnetic fields make you feel more awake and alert.

Most metal magnetic jewelry will only have bio-north facing your body. This is because if you have a swollen and painful area the bio-north magnetic field is very likely to help you to heal faster and to reduce pain. Probably by helping the antioxidants attach themselve to free radicals so much faster and neutralizing them.

So when you chose a piece of magnetic jewelry, keep this in mind. If you want it to help remove pain or swelling you're probably far better off with a metal bracelet.

That said, the hematite will help with pain and swelling too, and sometimes it's the looks that are important. Better to wear something that doesn't act as fast than to wear nothing to help!

    New Styles

I got some samples of some new styles of magnetic bracelet today. I think that I will be adding 3 of them to my line. There is a brushed silver men's link bracelet that is pretty plain. I like it a lot - more than any of the other men's styles I carry. And there is a plain silver women's link bracelet which is similar to the 'hugs and kisses style', but not quite.

Also there is a hematite magnetic anklet/bracelet which is black hematite with a purple stone every inch or so. Really nice.

They are good quality with strong magnets and they look good, just what I wanted. I wish it wouldn't always take so long to add new products. So far I've found it takes about 4 months, after the factory says that they can do it in 30 days!

The other 9 samples I got aren't good enough in looks.

More samples arriving soon. It's like Christmas!

    Magnetic Anklets

Magnetic Anklets were the first magnetic jewelry that I wore with any consistancy.

I used to work at trade shows for several weeks of the year.

Trade show venues always seem to have solid concrete floors. After a 12 hour day standing and walking on a concrete floor, My feet, calves and ankles were extremely painful. And as the show moved into the second, third fourth and fith days the pain got worse.

One day someone suggested I try some magnetic anklets. I was ready to try anything! I didn't really think they would work, but on the other hand I didn't think they would do me any harm.
Well, of course they did work. No more excruciating pain. Yes, my feet were tired at the end of a long day, but nothing I couldn't handle.

From then on, I always took the manetic anklets to trade shows, and from then on I never again had the excruciating pain in my feet and calves that I'd had in pre-magnetic anklet wearing days.

Where the Magnets should be with a Magnetic Bracelet

When you are buying a magnetic bracelet, as well as how the bracelet's style fits in with your wardrobe, make sure that the magnets will be in the right position for you.

There are two pulse points close together on the inside of your wrist. If you hold a thumb or finger firmly on them, you will be able to feel your pulse.

Those two spots are exactly where you want the magnets' bio-morth poles to be.
They shouldn't be tight against the skin - you want to keep the blood circulating without any hindrance!

But the closer they are to the pulse spots the better. The magnetic field from a small magnet in a magnetic bracelet does not penetrate very deeply. A magnet on the other side of your wrist will probably do no good at all unless you have a swollen wrist, in which case it will help ease the swelling.

If the blood going through your wrist comes under the magnetic field of the bracelet, that's when the power of the magnet can help your body to heal itself.
So make sure that you get the right size of bracelet for you! Otherwise you may just have a nice piece of jewelry.

    Another Happy Camper!

I was talking to someone today who had injured her shoulders doing yoga. She figured from a newer teacher that she hadn't been using her shoulders properly going into upward dog - she'd been hunching them forward and ended up with a very painful pair of shoulders.

She talked to me about it and I suggested that she try magnetic dots (As well as seeing her doctor)

She took my advice about the dots. Worked out where the pressure points she needed to put the north pole of the magnet on were and put them on and left them on for 2 days solid (I don't think she wanted me to share that! She had a bath in the evening, then put them on and skipped having a shower the next day. I guess she didn't want to bother with finding the right spot and applying them again, though I think that would have been better!)

Anyway, after having been in pain for about 2 months, the pain was gone. She went back to a yoga class today and everything felt fine.

Don't Wash your Magnetic Jewely in Hot Water!

A temperature of more than 80° C will cause your magnetic jewelry to become non-magnetic jewelry! It would loose it's magnetic properties forever.

So just remember that if somehow your magnetic jewelry gets really dirty use warm water and a gentle cleaning action. Leaving it to soak for a while in warm soapy water will be fine and hopefully then the dirt will come off easily and you can dry it off, polish it up with a soft cloth and it'll look as good as new again.

One Reason that wearing Magnetic Jewelry Works

When you wear magnetic jewelry, the magnetic field it gives off relaxes the walls of your blood capillaries. This allows for better blood flow. The increased blood flow brings increased nutrients and oxygen to your injury and removes waste matter from it.

This helps to restore the natural balance in that area, reducing inflammation, relieving pain and speeding up the body's natural healing processes.
